10 Ways to Level Up Your Nursery

Nursery building is probably THE most fun part of preparing for baby. Playing with the colors, themes, and accessories is an instant mood lifter. If you think you have all the basics down but are looking for some ways to make the room your dream nursery, here are some things you absolutely need to try.

  1. Wallpaper and Accent Walls

Don’t worry!! It DOESN’T have to be that complicated, I promise. For an accent wall I love peel-and-stick wallpaper. It’s so easy to put up and change as baby gets older and the good ones don’t ruin the wall underneath. An accent wall adds a cute personalization without making the whole room too busy. Here are some of my favorite simple but elegant designs that are top rated on Amazon!

  1. Wall Decals and Stickers

Wall decals can add a cute pop of color or theme addition to the room. You can find one that perfectly matches your aesthetic and it can be easily changed like the wallpaper. You can even cover a whole wall with them and make a faux wallpaper! I’m obsessed with the flower stickers that can be used to decorate a wall or even furniture. They add such a cute girly flare and are super easy to remove.

These animal decals are the cutest thing ever, for either a girl or boy room. This is a current top seller right now for its ease in application and removal and just look at how cute their faces are!

  1. Floating Shelves

Floating shelves are the ideal decor and “storage” for your nursery. My favorite are the shallow ones that can be used to prop up books, pictures, or keepsakes. They even have little bars to keep things from falling. Make sure you firmly anchor them into the wall for safety. I love these boho ones as well that you could put little trinkets on, such an easy addition to boring walls.

  1. Box Molding

Such a beautiful addition to any room, box molding can make a plain wall interesting without adding any paintings or true decor. In a nursery, this is extra special as it never gets old, it’s not something you’ll have to rip off the wall in a couple years. It is a timeless accent! You can buy them pre-assembled or assemble them yourself but it’s not difficult.

  1. Accent Lighting

Cute lamps, lampshades, or wall lights can make the world of a difference in the room as well. I love to choose warm colored bulbs to create a cozy, calm, and relaxing vibe. The different shapes are interesting for baby to look at too!

  1. Cute and Functional Mirrors

Mirror naturally open up any space and will make your nursery look bigger. Babies LOVE looking at themselves in the mirror and let’s be honest, sometimes so do we! Any mirror will make the space more interesting but the one below is functional too. This one is a Montessori mirror which, once baby is old enough, they can start to pull themselves up on the bar. It encourages play and strength building!

  1. Extravagant Mobiles

Every stereotypical nursery has a mobile but there are some gorgeous new mobiles on the market that actually add an element of design to the room while entertaining baby. My favorite are the ones with the plush pieces hanging down in simple, neutral colors. They catch the eye first-thing when you walk into the room and baby won’t get bored of looking at it!

  1. Stuffie Hammock

Every kiddo tends to end up with an unimaginable amount of stuffed animals! Whether from gifts or caving at the toy store, it’s easy to accumulate quite a few, but they’re so cute, why not put them on display! This hammock is a piece of decor in it of itself but the stuffed animals make it even cuter. This way baby can look up at them everyday and you can choose new ones to bring into the rotation.

  1. Baskets and Storage

Use storage baskets and bins to your advantage to add to the theme. You can get different sizes and group them together into a corner for a cute touch. Of course this is a great way to utilize storage of clothes, laundry, books, extra toys, or blankets. I love these woven ones!

  1. Stylish Accent Rugs

Kids rugs are so much more interesting than the ones we get! A cute animal or fuzzy rug in the middle of the nursery is a great way to add comfort and warmth to the room. It also gives baby something nice to crawl around on or do tummy time!
